Background...

As a resident of Bathgate & a keen hill walker, I believe that there should be a safe way of walking to the Bathgate Hills to visit local attractions like Beecraigs Country Park  & Cairnpapple, without taking your life in your hands on the very narrow roads. I have been asked by the Bathgate Community Council to look into ways of improving access and to look into the possibility of establishing a safe pathway for walkers. I have begun by speaking to local residents and landowners to take on board and consider their views and concerns before a route for the path is identified. The benefits of an improved pathway would improve access to the countryside for local people to enjoy the wildlife and views, historic sites and attractions. It would also be a benefit to local businesses and parks.
